Promotion Rules & Spend Boundaries

Spend $100 on food in a single store visit during the holiday week. Most grocery items count toward your spend, but beer, wine, and gift cards do not. The free frozen turkey discount comes off your bill at checkout while supplies last.

Eligible Purchases

Produce, bulk foods, fresh meats, dairy, canned items, frozen foods, and baking goods qualify toward the $100 spend.

Excluded From Spend Total

Beer, wine, tobacco, pharmacy items, gift cards, lottery tickets, fluid milk (where restricted by law), and sales tax do not qualify.

What Can You Get for Free?

Get one free Grade A frozen turkey of any size in stock. There is no weight cap on whole frozen turkeys at WinCo. Fresh birds and organic birds do not qualify.

WinCo allows a turkey breast up to 7 pounds at select stores. Most stores only offer whole frozen turkeys. Hams and vegan roasts sell at regular low shelf prices.

WinCo stocks turkeys on a first-come basis while supplies last. If a store runs out early, managers may issue a voucher slip. Shop early in the week to pick your bird.

⚠️ Holiday Inventory & Thawing Window Notice

Frozen turkeys require approximately 24 hours of refrigerator thawing for every five pounds of meat. Pick up your holiday bird at least four days before Thanksgiving to allow safe thawing. Grocery freezers empty quickly during Thanksgiving week, so shop early.

What Purchases Do Not Count?

Gift cards, money orders, and lottery tickets do not count. Remember that WinCo does not accept credit cards. Pay with cash, debit card, check, or EBT.

Pharmacy meds and co-pays do not count by federal rules. Beer, wine, and liquor do not count by state law. Tobacco and vape items do not count toward your total.

Fluid cow milk does not earn reward spend in states with milk price laws. Bottle return deposits, shopping bag fees, and sales tax are also excluded.

The cost of the turkey does not count toward your spend. Your other groceries must reach the required total first. The turkey discount applies after other items are scanned.

Does Every Store Take Part?

All worker-owned WinCo stores in Western states take part. Spend goals can be $100 or $125 depending on your local ad. Check store signs for area rules.

Suburban stores have large freezers with 14 to 22 pound turkeys. Small city stores have less cold space. City shops often sell more turkey breasts and deli trays.

Weekly ad flyers show local holiday sales. Most stores post new sales on Sunday or Wednesday. Check your local zip code online to view the current ad.

📍 Regional Store Verification

Supermarket promotions can vary by operating division and franchise location. Always confirm holiday terms in your neighborhood weekly flyer before shopping. Enter your local postal code on the official store website to view current meat specials.

Shopper Savings Strategies for WinCo Foods

Follow these practical shopping tips to maximize your savings on Thanksgiving dinner.

Strategy 1

Stack maker coupons with store deals

Bring paper maker coupons for foods like stuffing mix and canned corn. Maker coupons save cash on food. They do not lower your qualifying spend total.

Strategy 2

Earn fuel rewards on holiday food

Many stores offer bonus gas points in November. You can earn fuel points on your grocery trips. These gas points save cash at the pump while you shop.

Strategy 3

Clip digital coupons before checking out

Clip the digital coupon in your store app before you get in line. Cashiers cannot add digital coupons at the checkout lane. Always check your app account before you pay.

Strategy 4

Pick up your bird 4 days before Thanksgiving

A frozen turkey needs one full day in the fridge for every 5 pounds of meat. Pick up your bird by Monday before Thanksgiving. This gives the bird time to thaw safely.

💡 Deal Stacking Strategy

Combine manufacturer paper coupons with weekly grocery store discounts to reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Manufacturer coupons count toward your qualifying grocery spend total at most supermarkets. Review our holiday grocery budget tips for more savings tactics.

Prepared Holiday Dinners & Deli Catering

Shoppers looking for prepared meals can check the WinCo Foods deli counter for heat-and-serve holiday dinner packages.

Most supermarket delis require 48 hours advance notice for chilled holiday dinner pickups. Check your neighborhood store for local catering menus and order forms.

Orders can typically be placed online or at the customer service counter. Stores may have modified operating hours on Thanksgiving Day.
